DRLLVINATION is an attempt at divination through/with gameplay!

I made this game for the LD48 compo (48 hours jam) and I was very short on time, so the game lacks context-giving (and also audio) so let me explain what’s going on:

  • Every time you stomp a certain number of enemies, (look to the right side of the screen) you get a random new omen, represented by a shape.
  • The shapes you were given will appear above the enemies and define their attack behavior.
  • Whether you get a full divination or die before that, the gameover screen will offer you a compiled divination based on the omens you were given.
  • You win after you get a full divination with 5 omens, or you lose when you have no more health, health fills back up as you get deeper.

Controls:

  • arrow keys
  • OR w a s d
  • ‘enter’ key for starting over
  • ‘escape’ closes the game

Here is the Ludum Dare page for this game.

pretty & fun, could do with a nice chip tune track maybe.
noticed a glitch? on a win/game over you don't die, and can keep playing in the background while the score screen is up. you also stop taking damage in that state.

overall, this was nice. might do well as a mobile game.

Hey, game looks real fun but I cant play it. Ive unziped the game into a folder, but every time I double-click the .exe it loads for a while and then stops loading.

This game is the best I have played this week, the system reminds me of Downwell, but the character movements are the best. The game misses that a bit, but  it's funny only move the character.

Pressing A or D crashes the game instantly. Using the Arrow Keys seems to work though. Pretty fun, and really stylish!
